Bishop Dag Heward-Mills of Lighthouse Chapel Endorses National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving

As part of stakeholder engagement activities ahead of the maiden National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving on 1st July 2025, the Planning Committee, led by its Chairman Hon. Elvis Afriyie-Ankrah, paid a courtesy call on Bishop Dag Heward-Mills and the leadership of the Lighthouse Chapel, at the First Love Church, East Legon.

The Committee was warmly received by Bishop Dag Heward-Mills, Bishop Prince Addae, and Bishop Nterful Louis Emmanuel.

Hon. Elvis Afriyie-Ankrah formally introduced the purpose of the visit which was to share the vision behind the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving, extend a formal invitation on behalf of *President John Dramani Mahama* , and humbly request support in mobilizing the Church’s Congregation for national participation.

ABishop Dag Heward-Mills enthusiastically welcomed the initiative and offered his full support and blessings for the program. He specifically commended President Mahama for choosing to honor God with such a national call to prayer and thanksgiving, stating:

” *Because President Mahama has honoured God, God will also honour Him.”*

He emphasized that praying for the country is a noble act, regardless of those who may mock or misunderstand it. As a man of God, Bishop Dag declared his blessing for the event and confirmed his personal commitment and participation.

The visit also rekindled memories of President Mahama’s impactful sermon during the Church’s Easter Sunday service, where four prophetic prayers were declared over him.

*The Four Prophetic Prayers for President Mahama were;*

1. The Gift of Moses (Hosea 12:13)

To lead the people out of hardship and bondage; preservation of life and purpose.

2. The Gift of Solomon (1 Kings 3:12)

For wisdom, excellence, and a legacy that will be outstanding and memorable.

3. The Gift of the Messiah (Isaiah 9:6–7)

That his leadership shall bring peace and justice, and the increase of his government shall know no end.

4. The Gift of David (1 Chronicles 29:28)

To live to a good old age, full of days, riches, and honor.

The meeting concluded with a powerful prayer by Bishop Dag, with mutual expressions of unity, national interest, and continued collaboration between the Church and the State.
